Care Guide

We recommend following simple care practices to maintain the quality of all Yung Atelier pieces for many years to come. Please contact us here with any questions about your unique item or space.

Upholstery

Cushions

Yung Atelier cushions are generously filled with down and may need to be fluffed to add life and refresh shape. Most seat cushions also contain supportive foam cores that benefit from a little beating and hand smoothing of fabric after sitting.

Please note that new pieces will settle in and improve over time – springs, fabric and all elements becoming more enveloping with use.

Skirts

Many fabrics are delicate and prone to wrinkling despite the gentlest handling during transport. You may use a simple hand steamer on the backside of the skirt to remove any wrinkles or ripples.

Knit-Backing

Please note some Yung Atelier pieces use fabrics that require knit-backing during production, a process that adds weight and structural integrity to the fabric. This may be the case for particularly thin or stretchy textiles, as well as those that are loosely woven. All items are carefully reviewed and crafted in order to provide the highest level of quality and longevity in your space.

Metals

We recommend only cleaning metals with fine cotton or extra soft cloths and never to apply cleaners with alcohols or solvents. Tarnished metals should be professionally cleaned to maintain the integrity of their original condition.

Polished Metals

Polished metals may be cleaned with a damp cloth. We recommend Brasso, Simichrome or Flintz brand cleaners unless the item’s surface has a wax sealer coat. Please also avoid using any commercial or heavy-duty polishes or waxes, which may harm the finish.

Wood, Lacquer & Linen Finishes

Pieces with wood, lacquer and linen finishes have been stained and/or polished to enhance depth and beauty. While all pieces are treated with protective coats or layers, please periodically clean pieces with a soft, slightly damp cloth and polish with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using commercial, heavy-duty polishes or waxes, which can yellow light finishes, and please seek professional treatment for wood or lacquer pieces that are stained or soiled.

Wood and lacquer items are susceptible to over-drying and exposure to moisture caused from proximity to heaters and air conditioning units. Please take this into account when placing your furniture, and avoid extreme humidity changes in the air. Never place hot or moist objects directly onto wood, and note that rubber or plastic left on wood may damage the finish.

Outdoor Upholstery

Cushions

Yung Atelier Outdoor Collection cushions are crafted with anti-microbial reticulated foam with a dacron crown. Our materials are high quality and perform well in all humid and moist environmental conditions.

To best maintain your cushions, we recommend removing them from prolonged water exposure. Please also remove wet cushions from furniture frames to prevent formation of mildew and corrosion.

Furniture Covers & Storage

To clean outdoor furniture covers, you may use a garden hose to rinse them along with mild soap or warm water if scrubbing with a sponge or bristle brush. Please rinse well and pat covers dry with a towel.

Gently shake off, fold and store covers in a clean, waterproof environment in order to keep mildew from forming. It is important that covers are dry and clean.
